Privacy Policy

๐Ÿ”’ TL;DR: SummarySnap processes all text on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit your data. Optional iCloud Sync uses your private iCloud account โ€” we never see that data either.

Overview

SummarySnap is built with privacy as a core principle. The app uses Apple's Foundation Models framework to summarize and translate text entirely on your device. No text you enter, paste, or share ever leaves your iPhone or iPad โ€” unless you explicitly choose to sync via iCloud.

Data We Collect

None. SummarySnap does not collect any personal data, usage data, analytics, or telemetry of any kind. Specifically:

On-Device Processing

All summarization and translation is performed by Apple's Foundation Models, an AI model that runs entirely on your device. This means:

Data Storage

Your summaries, history, collections, and usage statistics are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data:

iCloud Sync (Optional)

SummarySnap offers optional iCloud synchronization to keep your summaries, collections, and preferences in sync across your Apple devices. This feature is:

When iCloud Sync is enabled, your data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy for iCloud services.

Summary Templates

SummarySnap offers five summary templates (Key Points, Meeting Notes, Study Notes, Email Brief, and Executive Summary). Template selection and processing happen entirely on-device. No template usage data is collected or transmitted.

Usage Statistics & Streaks

SummarySnap tracks basic usage statistics (total summaries, words processed, words saved, daily streak) to help you see your summarization habits. This data is stored locally on your device (and optionally in your iCloud account if sync is enabled). We never see or collect this data.

Watermark on Shared Summaries

When sharing summaries, a subtle "Summarized with SummarySnap" watermark may be included. This is a local text addition โ€” no data is transmitted to us when you share. Pro users can disable the watermark in Settings.

Export

When you export summaries as PDF, Markdown, or plain text files, the export is generated locally on your device. The exported files are shared using Apple's standard share sheet โ€” SummarySnap does not upload exports to any server.

Widgets & Spotlight

SummarySnap's Home Screen widgets and Spotlight indexing use data stored locally on your device. Widget data is shared between the app and the widget extension via a local App Group container and never leaves your device.

In-App Purchases

SummarySnap offers a one-time in-app purchase ("SummarySnap Pro") processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not process any payment information directly. Apple's privacy policy governs the purchase transaction.

Share Extension

When you use SummarySnap's Share Extension to summarize content from other apps (such as Safari), the shared text is processed on-device and is not transmitted anywhere.

Children's Privacy

SummarySnap does not collect any data from any users, including children under the age of 13. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify users of any material changes through an app update.
